Obituary

W.D. Robinson, a rural resident of Spur, died in his home eight miles west of town last Saturday, December 4th, at six-thirty in the afternoon. Mr. Robinson moved to Spur from Stamford in 1929 and had made his home here since that time. He was born in Mississippi, he moved to Texas at an early age. He was active in the Presbyterian Church for many years having served the Stamford Church as Deacon and the Spur Church as an Elder.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at three o'clock in the Spur Presbyterian Church with Fred J. Cairns, pastor, conducting the service.

The deceased leaves many loving relatives besides his own family. There are two sisters, one living in Arizona and one in California; and three brothers, two of whom live in Spur and one in Lamesa, Texas. His own family include his wife, Mrs. W.D. Robinson and Carter and Henry, boys and Mattie Sue and Lula Alice, (Mrs. Coy McMahon) girls.

Mrs. Mattie Ada Robinson, better known as "Miss Mattie" passed away Wed. July 26, after a short illness. The funeral was held at the First Baptist Church of Spur, July 27, 5 p.m. Rev. Herman Coe, pastor conducted the services assisted by Rev. Joe Owens, Presbyterian minister. Interment followed in Spur cemetery with Campbell Funeral Chapel in charge.

Miss mattie was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Womack in Panola County, TX. In early childhood she moved to Grayson Co. where she made her home until her marriage to W.D. Robinson Sept. 3, 1925, after which she lived in Spur until her death. She was converted at an early age and was united with the Baptist Church. She was not only a devoted Christian but also a lover of home and family.

Those left to mourn her departure are four step-children: Henry and Carter, Mattie Sue and Mrs. Coy MaMahan all of Spur; one step-grandson William Coy McMahan; one sister, Mrs. Laura Pike of Denison; 3 brothers, J.A. Womack, Ft. Worth, Jim, Greenville, and Lee of Gainesville, and a host of other relatives and friends.
