James Emmett RitchieU.S.Flag   Funeral services for James E. Ritchie, 43, of Spur, were held Sunday, October 3,at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. L.H. Handley of Lockney and Rev. C.L. Jarrett of Floydada, officiating.

Interment was in the Spur Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Mr. Ritchie was killed Thursday night, September 30, about 7:30 when the late-model automobile he was driving overturned at the intersection of Highway 70 and the old Spur Road.

Investigating highway patrol officers reported that the car was almost demolished. Ritchie was apparently driving into Spur, and failed to see the curve to the right of Highway 70, and started down the old Spur road. It was believed that he was trying to right his mistake and turned the car too sharp, the machine then overturned. He was alone in the car at the time of the accident.

Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Julia Ritchie, Mineral Wells; brothers, A.E. Ritchie, Los Angeles, Hays B. Ritchie, Vera and A.B. Ritchie of Irving; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Richards, McAdoo, Mrs. Janie Richards of Dickens and Mrs. Susie Norman of Spur.

Active pallbearers were from the Williams-Puckett Post of the American Legion, Spur.
