Obituary

Funeral services were held in Bethel Baptist Church for John Winfred Rinehart, 68. Rev. Chester Sassman officiated, assisted by E.O. McElyea.

Mr. Rinehart died Sunday in Odessa. He had been ill for about two years. He worked in Spur as a painter and carpenter and made his home on Highway 70 east of twon. He came to Dickens County in 1947, and had previously resided in Kent County.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Luther M. Rinehart, Midland; Loyd Rinehart, Hobbs, NM; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Culberth, Mrs. Lorene Parker, and Mrs. Leona Smith; three brothers, Melton, Walter and Brown Rinehart; one sister, Mrs. Emma Lamar. Twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers were J.T. Green, J.J. McDonald, Red Wallace, Elmer Wright, Red Pevehouse and E.E. Higginbotham.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery.

Kent County recorded a traffic fatality July 1 when Mrs. Celia Myrtle Rinehart, 82, died as the result of a car accident 2 miles east of Jayton on Highway 380.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 3, at 2 p.m. in the Highway 70 Church of Christ with Rev. George Ivy, Midland Church of God pastor and local minister, Bob Brandon, officiating.

A member of the Church of Christ, Mrs. Rinehart had been a resident of Dickens County since 1947, moving here from Kent County. Her husband died in 1962.

Survivors include her step-mother, Lemmer Low Talley, Comanche; two sons, Luther Rinehart, Midland and Loyd Rinehart, Hobbs, New Mexico; two daughters, Lorene Parker and Leona Smith, both of Odessa; two brothers, J.B. Low, Galveston and Joe Low, Granbury; five sisters, Eva Summers, Bertha Rinehart, Fredonia Brawley and Mary Smith, all of Comanche and Leona Walker, Galveston; 12 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
