Funeral services for J.B. Richbourg, a resident of Spur and Dickens County since 1909, were held Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the First Methodist Church. He died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Jack Rector on Monday morning, March 18. He was 88 years old, celebrating his birthday on January 31.
Rev. Wm. McReynolds, pastor of First Methodist Church officiated. He was assisted by Dr. J.O. Haymes and Dr. E. E. White, both of Lubbock.
Born in Hamilton county in 1875, Mr. Richbourg came to Dickens county and Spur in 1909. He purchased some of the first lots of the Spur Townsite. He married the former Mattie Stewart in Hillsboro in 1894. He was a retired salesman and was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Cereola Vickers, McAllen, Mrs. Floye Rector, Spur and Mrs. Willie Chapman, Amarillo; one brother, C.D. Richbourg, Granbury; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Hodges, Brady; Mrs. Mildred Thomas, Shallowater and Mrs. Joe Lary, Weatherford; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Interment was in Spur cemetery.
