Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church for James B. Reed, 79 a retired banker and rancher Rev. Norris Taylor, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiated.Mr. Reed died about 9: 5 a.m. in a Lubbock hospital. He had been hospitalized about two weeks. A member of the Baptist Church, Mr. Reed came to Dickens County in 1922. He was a charter member of the Spur Rotary Club and a veteran of WWI.
Survivors include his wife, of Spur; two daughters, Mrs. Fred Cairns, Embro, Ontario Canada; Mrs. Everett Baker, Dallas; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Simmons, Carnalo, CA; one brother, A.W. Reed, Westminster; five grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Interment was in Spur cemetery.

Graveside services for Lula Reed, 92, of Dallas, formerly of Spur, were at 2 p.m. October 24, 1992 in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Norris Taylor, retired Baptist minister from Idalou, officiating.Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Reed died about 1:50 a.m. on October 22, 1992 in Walnut Place Nursing Center in Dallas. Death was ruled as due to natural causes.
She was born in Altoga (Collin County) Texas and had lived in Spur from 1922 until 1987 when she moved to Dallas. She married James B. Reed in Dallas on December 29, 1918. She was a charter member of the 1928 Bridge Club, the Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Julia Reed Cairns, Embro, Ontario, Canada and Miriam Reed Baker, Callas; four sisters, Eunice Rattan, McKinney; Frances Roper, Columbus, Ohio; Gradie Harris, Augusta, Georgia and Helen Crigger, Anna, Texas; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
