Crosby Wreck Fatal To Girl

CROSBYTON, August 16 — Dollie Nell Putman, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. K. Putman of Highway community in western Dickens county died about 2 a.m. today in Crosbyton hospital from injuries received when the car in which she was riding with her family was in collision about 6 p.m. Sunday with a car driven by Alfred J. Diffie of Tulsa, 10 miles east of Crosbyton on Highway 82.

Mrs. Putman and Diffie are both in critical condition, attendants at the hospital here reported late tonight. Also in the hospital are two other Putman daughters, Ina, 18 and Lois, 4. Mr. Putman and another two daughters, Arin, about 8, and Anita, about 26, were not injured seriously enough to be hospitalized after treatment.

All the victims were brought to the hospital here for treatment.

The Highway patrol reported that Diffie's late-model Cadillac was moving east alongside the highway while the Putman's Buick sedan was driving south on a rural road toward the highway. As the Putman automobile started across the highway to continue down the country road, Diffie's automobile swung on to the highway. Both drivers sought to avoid a collision, but did not succeed and the left side of the Diffie automobile struck the right side of the Putman automobile.

Funeral services for Miss Putman are to be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Spur Church of Christ. Burial will be in Spur cemetery, with Campbell home in charge.
