Eddie Proctor Rites Held December 22
Carl Edward (Eddie) Proctor, 10, perished in a fire which destroyed the family resident at 205 East Hill Street about 12 midnight, December 21.Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m., Dec. 22, in the Church of Christ, with Willis G. Jernigan, minister, officiating, assisted by C. Melvin Ratheal, Baptist Minister.
Young Eddie was sleeping in an upstairs bedroom when the fire was discovered. Attempts of local firemen to aid the boy to safety from the blazing home were unsuccessful. Two brothers and the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Proctor, escaped.
Eddie was born July 26, 1940, in Lubbock. He was a student in the East Ward School.
Immediate survivors include the parents, and two brothers, Robert and Earl.
Pallbearers were Tom Johnston, Horace Hodges, Cuba White, Ernest McNutt, A.C. Hull and Ed West.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Foster, Ronnie Cloude, Joe Don Davenport, Lyndal Womack and Rush McGinty, all classmates.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery, with Chandler Funeral Home directing arrangements.
