Obituary

Mrs. S.I. Powell died Tuesday of this week after an illness of two weeks suffering of pneumonia, at the Powell home in Spur. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church by Rev. Davidson, interment following in the Spur Cemetery.

Mrs. Powell was born in Alabama April 15, 1880, being forty eight years of age at the time of death.

Among the relatives here Wednesday to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. B.G. Barrow, J.C. Barrow, and Mrs. R.R. Alexander of Hico; R.Y. Barrow of Stamford; Mrs. Sid Barham of Stephenville; M.Z. Barrow of Rule; and three brothers and two sisters of Mr. Powell from other points in Texas.

S.I. Powell, 74, died in his home in Spur late Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 10. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Powell was a pioneer business man of Spur, having operated a blacksmith shop here for many years. His shop was located where Jackson East's food store is now located.

Powell was a member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Cotton Ensey.

Services Held Saturday For S.I. Powell

Services for S.I. Powell were held Dec. 13, 2:30 p.m. for Sherwood Inghram Powell who died Dec. 10. Services held in First Methodist Church with Rev. Cal Wright officiating assisted by Rev. Tommie Allen.

Powell was born Sept. 10, 1879 and lived in this county for the past 35 years. He was married August 9, 1913 in Ozona to Margaret Grimmer.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mozelle Ensey of South Gate, CA; 2 sisters, Mrs. R.L. Cole, NM and Mrs. D.W. Dennis, Big Spring.

Interment in Spur cemetery with Chandler in charge.
