Obituary

Mr. Powell died Tuesday at Dry Lake, the remains being interred in the Spur cemetery Wednesday. Mr. Powell was the father of Judge Walter L. Powell, Vernone Powell and Mrs. John D. Hufstedler. He was seventy odd years of age and had been in ill health for some time. Recently he underwent an operation at the Spur Sanitarium, which gave relief for a time.

Mrs. Rosa Powell, at the age of 71 yrs, 8 months and 30 days peacefully went to sleep in death Monday, Sept. 17 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John D. Hufstedler, of west of Spur. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H.P. Cooper of the Church of Christ of Spur, Tuesday afternoon at 3o'clock, interment being made in Spur Cemetery.

Grandma Powell was the mother of Walter L. Powell, J. Vernon Powell and Mrs. John Hufstedler, of near Spur. While she had been in feeble health for some time, her death at this time was unexpected. it is said that she had expressed to her daughter a desire to get out of bed and sit up a while, and upon being discouraged in arising, Grandma asked that she be changed to a different position in bed, and as she was changed, peacefully died with but a single struggle.

Grandma Powell was a worthy, Christian woman, and friends deeply sympathize with members of the family in their sorrow and bereavement.

A son from Haskell county and other relatives from the Plains were here to attend the funeral and pay their last respects to the passing of a good woman.
