Funeral services for Mrs. Luther Powell who died of heart failure suddenly Thursday at 1:00 p.m. were held at the family residence Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., Dr. M.F. Ewton, pastor of the First Baptist Church conducting the services. Interment followed in Spur cemetery with Webber Williams in charge.

Mrs. Powell was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.J. Gilbert (deceased) and had lived most of her life in Spur. She was born February 18, 1898. Survivors are Mr. Powell, one daughter, Billie Louise; a brother, Lanier Gilbert, senior in Spur High School; Mrs. H.C. Bruben, a sister, Wendell Gilbert, a brother of Lubbock, a sister Mrs. Dan Holloman of Gladewater, a sister, Miss Gladys Gilbert of Wilson. All the relatives were here for the funeral services.
