Funeral services for Mrs. Varina Potts, 82, who passed away Sunday night, June 20th, 1948 after a long illness, at her home in Spur, were held Tuesday afternoon, June 22, 1948, in the Church of Christ of Spur, with Brother Frank L.Cox officiating.

Mrs. Potts was one among the earlier residents of Spur, having moved to Spur in 1909, the year the town was opened. She was a regular attendant of the Church of Christ of which she became a member in 1933, and where her presence will be greatly missed.

She was born February 13, 1866 in Crockett, Texas, where she lived as a child with her parents for many years, was married to W.G. Potts, September 25, 1866, in Decatur, Texas, living here for a number of years, they later moved to Spur, where she has resided for the past 39 years and where she has made a host of friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, W.G. Potts and two sons, Sam and Edd.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Mary Gray of Spur, and one son, Joe Potts, of Golden Meador, Louisiana; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Interment was made in the Spur Cemetery with the Campbell's Funeral Chapel in charge.
