Services Held Here Monday For A.R. PierceAlpha Ray Pierce, 67 died October 16 in Spur Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in 1897 in Nebraska, Mr. Pierce came to Dickens County at the age of 28 and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nobie Edith Pierce, five sons, Malcolm Pierce, Houston; Bill Moore, Hobbs,NM; Jimmy Lee Pierce, Farmington, NM and Frederick Pierce, Baton Rouge, LA.
Four daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Holly, Irving; Mrs. Doyle Redding, Floydada; Mrs. Tommy Nesbitt, Bay City; and Mrs. Charles Gwinn, Matador. Three sisters and 26 grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Jenkins officiating, assisted by Rev. Dick Horn, Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.
Burial was in the Spur cemetery under direction of Campbell's.
