Funeral services were held last Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Spur Church of Christ for James Luther Phillips, 82, a retired cement contractor.
Holland Boring, minister officiated.
Mr. Phillips died August 17 in the Crosbyton Hospital. He had resided in Spur for 9 years. Prior to moving to Spur he lived in Stephenville. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Spur and one brother, Abb Phillips, Fort Worth; one sister, Mrs. Johnny Bailey, Fort Worth.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
Interment was in Spur Cemetery.

Mrs. J.L. Phillips passed March 3. She was born in Robertson County, Dec. 1884.Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Smith moved to Comanche County in 1886 and to Kent County in 1890.
She was married to James Phillips of San Angelo in Dickens in 1910. They lived in San Angelo until they moved to Stephenville, Erath Co. They moved to Spur in 1956 where they have resided since. Her husband preceded her in death in 1957. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by two brothers: Willis Smith, Albuquerque, NM and Milton Smith, Spur; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Auvermann, Mrs. Dick Sampson and Mrs. Frank Goodall of Spur and a host of nieces and nephews.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery.
