Services for H.R. "Slim" Phelps, 74, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Oakwood Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Tims and Jim Brockenback officiating.

Burial will be in the Spur Memorial Cemetery at 4 p.m. after services at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Spur. Burial will be under direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

Phelps died Saturday morning in Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Gonzales County and had lived in Crosby and Dickens counties from 1928 to 1952. He moved to Lubbock in 1972 from New Mexico. He married Mary K. Julian on Sept. 7, 1973, in Lubbock. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. He was a contractor and carpenter.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gene of Sanderson, three stepsons, David Davis of Bryant, Tom Julian of Lubbock and Drew Julian of Austin; three daughters, June Carson of Lubbock, Joyce Tims of McCamey and Pearl O'Haver of Lubbock; four sisters, Roberta Phelps, Josie Phelps and Bonnie Neal, all of Spur, and Laura Carley of Portales, NM; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
