Obituary

Funeral services for James Carl Peninger, 81, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Dick Horn officiated, assisted by Rev. Victor Crabtree.

Mr. Peninger died August 7 in Big Spring. He had been in ill health for the past 20 years.

Spur had been Mr. Peninger's home since 1947.

He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include Mrs. Florine Peninger, Spur; one son, Ira Peninger, Danevang; one daughter, Mrs. Opal Crain, Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. Cleo Hamilton, Gorman; Mrs. Inez Clement, Sundown; two brothers, Lee Peninger, Breckenridge and Hugh Peninger, Amarillo; three grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery.

Graveside services for Florine Murchison, 98, of Spur were 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2003 at Spur Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. C.L. Atkinson officiating. Burial was under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Murchison died Thursday, December 25, 2003, in Spur.

She was born July 5, 1905 to L.C. and Emma Bell Ponder in Sulphur Springs, TX. She moved to Spur with her family in 1918. She married Carl Penninger who preceded her in death in 1965. She later married Roland Murchison in 1966. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Mrs. Murchison was a Baptist and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
