Last Rites Held For Hazel Cooner Paranto Saturday

Final rites were held for Hazel Dell Cooner Paranto, who died at Salina, Kansas, April 2, from injuries received in a car accident.

She had been to Salina, Kansas helping an uncle, Jim Boykin, who operates a beauty shop there and was returning to Russel, Kansas, where she lived and operated a beauty shop. She was approaching a curve and meeting a truck when her car hit a soft shoulder and overturned. She was carried to a hospital in Salina, but lived for only an hour and a half.

She was married in 1942 to Francis Paranto of Kansas. To this union one son was born, Jimmie Francis, now three years of age. Her husband preceded her in death in 1943, having been killed in action while a pilot on a B-17.

Surviving are one son, Jimmie Paranto, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Cooner of Spur, a brother, Warren Cooner of the United States Navy, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S.H. Boykin of Spur. Uncles are Jim Boykin of Salina, Kansas, who accompanied the body to Spur, J.E. Boykin, Port Arthur, TX, Dick Boykin of Spur and C.D. Betts of Naples, TX. Two cousins, Otice and Marion Betts, Naples, TX.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were H.M. Cooner of Knox City; Mr. and Mrs. M. F. McKnight; and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Smith of Littlefield.

Services were held in the Church of Christ, with Roy Deaver, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Spur Cemetery with the Chandler Funeral Home in charge.
