Funeral services were held Friday, March 10, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Spur for Jesse Madison Owens, 82. Rev. Norris Taylor pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. Howard Marcom.

Mr. Owens died in his home on March 8. He had been employed on the Guitar Ranch from 1933 to 1970. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. James Parker, Bryson; Mrs. Hibe Robinson, Lubbock; Mrs. Jack Bruce, Slaton; Mrs. Jack Williams, Spur; one son, Elmo Owens, Abilene; one sister, Mrs. Verda Hodge, Roseville, GA; 14 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Louis Arnold, Pete Day, Buck Carlisle, Rex Carlisle, Wallace Shipman and Buddy Wright.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery.
