Funeral services for Sawnie Norris, 72, were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Norris Taylor, officiating.

Mr. Norris died February 15 in the Stonewall Memorial Hospital, Aspermont. He married the former Birdie L. Bradford in Roaring Springs in 1933. He had been a resident of Dickens County since 1933. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Birdie L. Norris, Spur; one son, Mike Norris, Jayton; two brothers, Bill Norris, Dublin and Griff Noris, Ft. Worth; four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Henderson, Levelland; Dorothy Mayo and Trixie Hawkins both of Stephenville, and Eunice Carver, Ft. Worth; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Jack Morris, Rick Goss, Armon Fitzgerald, Roger Bradford, Ronnie Clifton and Buster York.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery.

Services for Birdie Lavada Norris, 82, of Spur, were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church, Spur, with Rev. Norris Taylor, Idalou and local pastor, Rev. Richard Harbison, officating.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Norris died September 1, 1995 at her home. Justice of the Peace Robert Waddell ruled death due to natural causes.

She was born in Dickens on January 30, 1913 and lived most of her life in Dickens County. She married Sawnie Norris at Roaring Springs on December 9, 1933. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1981.

Mrs. Norris was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Clifton on February 14, 1977; a grandson, Beau Norris, December 31, 1993 and a great granddaughter, Cathy Lea, on March 20, 1989.

Survivors include one son, Mike Norris, Jayton; one brother, Virgil Bradford, Modesto, CA; three sisters, Mildred Woods, Flora Rich and Odell Goss, all of Dickens; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Flip Fitzgerald, Jack Morris, Rick Goss, Manuel Herrera, Ray Chisum and Roy Chisum.
