Services Held For Birt C. Nix

Birt Carlisle Nix, who had lived in Dickens County for 22 years, died April 3, 1955, after an extended illness.

He was born September 28, 1882 in Arkansas, and moved to Texas early in life.

After the loss of his father, Mr. Nix resumed the responsiblity of his five smaller sisters and his mother at an early age.

He was converted in the early 1930's and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Services were held at the Church of Christ in Spur at 3 p.m. Monday April 4, with Terry Blake of Dickens officiating.

Pallbeaers were Jack Gibson, Fred Arrington, E.J. Nickols, Forrest Edwards, Ervin Loe, and W.A. Avera.

He is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Lodie Herbst of Dickens, Mrs. Mae Carter of Hamlin, and Mrs. Georgia Wilson.

Interment was in the Spur Cemetery with Campbell's Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
