Funeral services for Obid Carroll Nelson, 49, were held at the First Baptist Church December 30, Rev. W.L. Kite officiating, assisted by Rev. Chester Sassman.Mr.Nelson suffered a heart attack and died suddenly December 28 in Spur Memorial Hospital.
Born in Stonewall County in 1912, Mr. Nelson first came to Dickens County in 1944 where he was in the trucking business. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Ssurvivors include his wife, one brother, W.C. of Plainview, two half-brothers, Jim and Sam Childress, Grandy, CO; three sisters, Mrs. V.J. Phillips, Abilene; Mrs.Irma rigsby, Lockney; Mrs. Elldredge McCombs, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and one half-sister, Mrs. Hazel Franks, Houston.
Pallbearers were D. Burns, Jim Humphreys, Bill George Drennon, Martin Pope, Laster Hensley and Fred Dalby.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery.

Graveside services for Marguerite Graves Nelson, 84, Lubbock will be Thursday, August 25, 1994 at 2 p.m. in Spur Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Dorothy Thompson, former chaplain with Methodist Hospital, officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.Mrs. Nelson died on Tuesday, August 23, 1994 in Highland Medical Center after an illness.
She was born May 31, 1910 in Guthrie, King County, Texas. She married Obid Carroll Nelson. He died in 1960. She moved to Lubbock from Wellington. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Wellington.
Survivors include two sisters, Lorene House and Thelma McDaniel both of Lubbock and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to the Spur Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 111, Spur, Texas 79370.
