Obituary

Funeral services for William Fred Neaves, Jr., 76 of Spur, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 1995, in the First Baptist Church Rev. Norris Taylor, Idalou and church pastor Rev. Genoa Goad, officiated.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Neaves died at his home about 3;25 following a brief illness. He was born September 27, 1918 in Commerce but had lived in Spur since 1926. He married Revvie Hefner in Matador on April 22, 1939.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite and had served as Deputy District Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge and Worshipful Master of Masonic Lodge No. 1023 and had been Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star.

He was a farmer and rancher and a deacon of the First Baptist Church. He formerly served on the following boards: Spur ISD; Farmer's Home Administation, Dickens Electric Cooperative and Agricultural and Stabilization and Conservation committee.

Survivors include his wife, of Spur; a son, Dr. Barlow Neaves of Dallas; three sisters, Doris Morrison, Spur; Elaine Ballard, Rochester and Mildred Simpson, Amarillo; two grandchildren, Bill Neaves, Jr. of Arlington and D'Laine Neaves Rutledge, of Quanah.

Pallbeaers were Mac Driggers, Lester Ball, Ed Murray, Trent Driggers, Phil Driggers and Woodie McArthur. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the First Baptist Church.

Revvie Lee Neaves, 88 passed away Thrusday February 18, 2011 at Lubbock, Texas. She was born on August 5, 1922 to Andrew and Myrtle Hefner. Services will be February 20, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Spur, Texas with Larry Burton Officiating and Richard Harbison assisting under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Spur Memorial Cemetery in Spur, Texas.
