Obituary

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, September 29 at 4:30 o'clock for Sam Houston Nalley, 73, who died at the Nichols General Hospital, Sunday after being admitted there Friday. Mr. Nalley had been in ill health for the past few years.

Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Spur with Rev. H.L. Burnham and Rev. O.L. Deweese officiating. Interment was in the Spur Cemetery with Chandler Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Nalley was born in Waco, Texas, April 4, 1874. His parents were F.J. and Minnie Nalley. He was married to Floria German in Waco November 19, 1899, and moved to Dickens County in 1920, living here for the past 27 years, he had many friends who will morn his passing. He was highly respected by all who knew him. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was converted at the age of 18 years.

Pallbearers were: Ray Caplinger, Mutt Bostic, Jay Austin, Lee Parker, L.L. Delisle and John Blakley.

Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. S.H. Nalley and children, George Nalley and Mrs. Sammie Hodges of Spur; Mrs. Herman Phillips, Dumas; Mrs. George Sims, Seymour; J.O.Nalley of Austin and Sterling Nalley. Also surviving him are five grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Flora Nalley, 81, are slated today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist Church with pastor, Rev. William D. McReynolds officiating. He will be asisted by Rev. Cal C. Wright of Colorado City.

Mrs. Nalley died in her sleep on February 8. She first came to Spur in 1924. Her husband died in 1947.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. George Sims, Seymour; Mrs. Horace Hodges, Abilene; three sons, George, Spur; J.O., Austin; Sterling, Wichita Falls; one brother, Lewis German, Dallas and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Ammons, Waco.

Six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.

Interment will be in Spur Cemetery.
