Services for Cory Allen Morris, 17, of Spur, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 1995, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Genoa Goad, church pastor and Rev. Norris Taylor, Idalou, and a former Spur pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery. Morris died as a result of injuries of a one vehicle accident in Kent County at 12:28 a.m. January 2. Mack Geeslin, Kent County Judge, pronounced Morris dead at the scene.

He was born in Post on May 31, 1977. He had lived in Spur since 1979. He was a senior in Spur High School, was a member of the District Champion Spur Track Team; was co-captain of the District Champion Football team where he was named All District for three years and this year he was Honorable Mention All State as an offensive tackle. As a sophomore he was elected Class Favorite. He was enrolled in the Gifted Talented program at Spur High School and served as an office aide.

He is survived by his parents, Charlie and Fronye Morris, of Spur and Phyllis and Robert Mills, of Childress; one brother, Chad Morris, Lubbock; two sisters, Beth and Alana Bingham both of Spur; maternal grandparents, Clayton and Colleen Morse Claude; stepgrandmother, Betty Jones, Spur.
