Funeral rites for Leon Melton Moore, 51, were held on Saturday, June 9, at the Baptist Mission in Spur, Conducting the service was Rev. Dock Love, assisted by Rev. Dewey Ijames.

Pallbearers were Alvis Bilberry, Alton Delisle, Ray Morrow, Wallace Day, Allen Gatlin and Mr. Dozier.

The deceased was born in Union Church, Miss. And died in Brookhaven, Miss., where he was visiting at the time of his death. He was wed to Agnes Reagan in a ceremony in Lubbock in 1928. He and his family were residents of Dickens County for 22 years, coming here from Shallowater.

Moore was affiliated with the Baptist Church, after being converted to the Christian religion at an early age.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Louise, Margie and Diana, all of Spur; eight sons, Allen Bob, Leland, Ray, Doyle, Dale, Wayne and Dean; one brother, Ed; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Gordon; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are his step-mother, Ellen Moore and his mother, Mrs. May Byrd.

Interment was in the Spur Cemetery under the direction of Chandler's Funeral Home.
