Services for John F. Moore, 78, were at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 1992, in the First United Methodist Church with church pastor Rev. Kenney Kirk, officiating; assisted by former Spur pastor, Rev. George Price, Slaton.Moore died about 10:41 a.m. October 7 at Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a sudden illness.
Born in King County, he moved to Dickens County in 1915. He married the former Doris Sargeant on January 17, 1942 in Paducah.
Moore was employed by the Soil Conservation Service for 35 years and was also a farmer and rancher. He served on the nominating committee for the Dickens-Motley County Old Settlers Reunion for several years. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Thurmond in 1971 and Jack in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Moore of Spur and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Services for Doris "Henri" Sargent Moore, 82, of Spur were Thursday, June 24, 1999 at the First United Methodist Church of Spur. Rev. Larry Burton officiated. Burial was in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur..Doris died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. She was born March 1, 1917, in Haskell Co. She was a graduate of McMurry University in Abilene. She married John F. Moore on Jan. 17, 1942, in Paducah. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1992. She taught elementary school in Spur for 38 years before retiring. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and taught Little Primary Sunday School class for many years.
She is preceded in death by one brother.
She is survived by two brothers, Charles Sargent of Pleasanton and Bob Sargent of Arlington; two sisters, Ouida Shubert and Chat Adams, both of Haskell; and several nieces and nephews.
