Oliver and Maud Mimmss Minnix were married in 1897. They lived in the Rising Star, Sipe Springs area before moving to Dickens County in the early 1900's. Their first home was a half dug-out, built on the land they bought in the Wichita Community. They later built a comfortable home on the property and lived there until they retired from farming and moved to Spur in 1947.Those more than forty years on the farm saw years of drought and years of bumper crops. Cotton was the main crop, but corn and maize were also raised. Along with large gardens of vegetables for canning in the summer. They survived the depression of the thirties by living mostly off the land.
Before moving to Dickens County they buried a stillborn baby boy in Sipes Springs Cemetery and had no other children until they adopted Bobbie Ruth Williams, year old daughter of Ruth and Joe Williams, at the death of Ruth who was Maud's younger sister.
They were always hospitable and had and welcomed company. Always keeping the preacher for the summer meetings held in the Wichita School house where the Church of Christ met.
Oliver passed away at the family home at 515 W. Harris, Spur, in 1951. Maud passed away in the same home in 1960.

Oliver Eugene Minnix, 75 resident of Spur and the Wichita community since 1911, died January 8, 1951. Funeral rites were held at 4 p.m. January 9 in the Spur Church of Christ with Willie G. Jernigan, resident minister, officiating. C. V. Allen assisted.Minnix was born March 30, 1875 in Hill county, the son of Mr. And Mrs. William Minnix. He was married to Clara Maud Mimms on Dec. 2, 1897, in Eastland county, where the couple made their home until moving here.
Pall bearers were O. C. Arthur, C. M. McGinty, O. L. Kelley, Guy Goen, Ed Williams and Gafford Phillips.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Bobbie Ruth Blair, and a grandson, Larry Charles Blair, of Spur; two brothers, Otto Minnix, Lubbock and Toliver Minnix, Sweetwater, and one sister, Mrs. Dora Key, Big Spring.
Chandler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Clara Maude Minnix, 81, died Monday night. She had suffered a heart condition.Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Spur Church of Christ with Vernon Williams, minister, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. J. E. Lee, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Marvin Blair, Spur; two sisters, Mrs. Herman Polly, Stockton, CA; and Mrs. Earl Bivins, Arkansas City, KS; one brother Ray Mimmss also of Stockton.
Pallbearers included her nephews, Jerre, Jackie, Don, Pete, Dalton, and Marvin Mimmss and J. D. Graham.
Interment was in Spur Cemetery.
Mrs. Minnix had been a resident of Dickens County since 1900. She resided in the Wichita community from 1900 through 1947, when she moved to Spur.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1951.
