Attorney Hugh Metcalf Dies in Spur Wednesday
County Attorney Hugh Metcalf of Crosby county died Wednesday night in Spur as the result of Cardiac Paralysis. He, with his wife, was passing thru Spur enroute to their home in Crosbyton from a visit of several days to her parents in Stonewall county and were spending the night at the Western Hotel.While in the city Wednesday afternoon, Attorney Metcalf was in an extremely nervous condition and secured from Dr. Grace medicine with which to relieve the disordered condition. During the night and after retiring to his room, Mr. Metcalf was up until about twelve o'clock, and after taking a dose of medicine stated that he would lie down to rest. Immediately after lying down Mrs. Metcalf noticed that he was not breathing properly and called for assistance. Dr. Grace was called but upon his arrival Mr. Metcalf was dead.
The remains were held over here awaiting the arrival of the father until Friday at which time interment will be made in the Spur Cemetery.
Attorney Metcalf was a man of prominence in his county and a lawyer of recognized ability, and the Texas Spur joins his friends in extending condolence to the bereaved family.
