Don Merriman was born August 9, 1898 at Spur Ranch, Dickens Texas to Tolbert and Della Gilmore Merriman. He married Ella Thannisch April 29, 1920, at Dickens, Texas. To this union the following children were born:

Don Merriman Don Merriman, 72, of 1808 Ave. X, died at 3 p.m. Saturday in Methodist Hospital after a long illness.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in W. W. Rix Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Rape, associate pastor of St. John' s Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Spur Cemetery.

He was a member of a pioneer ranching family in West Texas. He was son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Tul Merriman and was born on the old Spur Ranch, where his father was a cowboy. His mother cooked for the ranch for many years.

Merriman was a retired rancher. He had ranched in eastern New Mexico and West Texas.

He had lived in Lubbock 14 years., moving here from Amarillo. He was owner of Merriman Business College here.

Survivors include the wife, Ella; a son, Pat, of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Leroy Elmore, Mrs. C. O. McCullough both of Lubbock; a brother, Guy of Spur; a sister, Mrs. Ruby M. Hill of Lubbock; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
