Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 p.m for Oscar Pitts Meador, 80. He died at a Lubbock Hospital Oct. 1.Services were held in the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Jenkins and Rev. Chester Sassman officiating.
Born in Joplin, Missouri in 1883, Mr. Meador first came to Spur in 1922. He was a member of the Steele Hill Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maude Meador and four sons; Levi Meador, Grover Meador, H.F. Meador and Gussie Meador; two daughters, Mrs. W.O. Davenport and Mrs. Willie Williams; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Flowers; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Pallbearers included Russell Williams, John Albin, George Nalley, Marion Jordan, Gene Roberts and Ford Taylor.
Burial was in Spur Cemetery.
Mr. Meador had been retired for a number of years.

Chester Sassman, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Perrin, officiating, assisted by Rev. Wayne Grizzle, Crosbyton.Survivors include four sons, Levi, Gussie and H. F. of Brownwood and Grover of Albuquerque, NM; two daughters, Mrs. Bill Davenport, Spur and Mrs. Willie Williams, McAdoo; one sister, Mrs. Sally Morris, Gainesville, 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Meador has been a resident of Spur since 1922 and was member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Meador preceded her in death Oct. 1, 1963.
Burial will be in Spur cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
