Obituary

Funeral services for D. E. McKenzie were conducted Sunday, February 28, at the Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. J. E. Lee officiated, assisted by Rev. Billie Smith, Rev. Lee Hulls and Rev. Billie Crafton.

McKenzie was born June 23, 1889 at Corgell County, TX. He passed away Ferry 27, 1954. He had lived in Texas all his life and came to this area in 1914. He and Beaulah Bilbrey were married March 24, 1917 at Portales, NM. He was converted and joined the Baptist Church when about thirty years of age.

Pallbearers were Oscar Crafton, Homer Hodges, Homer Hill, John Blakley, Pat Robinson and A.B. Stuckey.

Survivors other than his wife are, two daughters, Mrs. Opal Hodges of Girard and Patsi Mayo of Spur; one son, James E. of Lovington, NM; one sister, Bessie Boykin of Adamsville; four brothers, W. A. of Lampasas, John, Pearl and Jay of Austin, and four grandsons.

Interment was in the Spur cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Beulah May McKinzie, 60, were held Saturday at the Bethel Baptist Church, Rev. J.E. Lee officiating.

She died in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, on Feb. 24, following a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of Spur for thepast 13 years. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Her husband died in 1954. Assisting in the service were Rev. Wallace Pierce of Clariemont, and Billy Smith, Lubbock.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Bilbrey, Santa Anna; one son, James E. McKinzie, Spur; one daughter, Mrs. Woodrow Hodges, Girard, a brother, Odis Bilbrey, Santa Anna; and two sisters, Mrs. Jasper Kuyendall, Midland and Mrs. Frank Shaw, San Saba, four grandchildren and three greatgrandchilden also survive.

Pallbearers included W.A. Pery, Homer Hill, Alvis Bilberry, James E. Luna, George Nalley and George Gragson.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery.
