Obituary

Funeral services for Joe W. McDaniel, 70, will be held today, Thursday, at 2:30 p.m. in the Spur Church of Christ.

Mr. McDaniel, who had farming interests died near his place southwest of Spur, Tuesday morning. He was herding a bull, which had strayed from his pasture. J.B. Morrison who also ranches in the area, was assisting Mr. McDaniel with the cattle and was with him when he was stricken.

Born in Callahan County in 1906. Mr. McDaniel came to Dickens County in 1925.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Odessa McDaniel, Spur; one sister, Mrs. Syble Ericson, Tacoma, WA and a brother, Jim McDaniel, Brownfield, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will include Elmer Maban, Bernice Bilberry, Pete Sampson, Graden Bass, Guy Goen, Wilburn Ball, J.B. Morrison, Jr. and Ralph Sherrell.

Burial will be in the Spur Cemetery.

Services for Odessa McDaniel, 81, Lubbock were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 1994 in the Monterey Church of Christ, with John Herington, Levelland, officiating.

Graveside services were at 3 p.m. in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Lubbock.

Mrs. McDaniel died Monday, April 11, 1994 in Fannin County. She married Joe McDaniel on July 25, 1932, in Clovis, New Mexico. He died in 1975. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Chist. She moved to Lubbock in 1967. A son, Billy Joe, died in 1962.

Survivors include a brother, B.C. Stapleton, Lubbock.

Pallbearers will be Danny Williams, Don Williams, Ken Castle, Foy Kirkpatrick, Cody Steele and E.C. Leslie.

The family suggests memorials to the Sunset School of Preaching, the Chilren´s Home of Lubbock or to Lubbock Christian University.
