Annie McCombs Martha Annie Stevens McCombsFuneral services for Martha Annie McCombs, 98, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Spur, with Rev. George Price, Jr., officiating.

Mrs. McCombs, died April 7 about 6:20 p.m. in the Kent County Nursing Home. She was born Martha Annie Stevens on August 20, 1886 in Wise County. She married Lon McCombs in 1911 in Clairemont. He died on Auugust 6, 1924.

A homemaker, she had lived in Dickens County since 1924, coming here from Rotan. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Raymond McCombs and Elmer McCombs, Spur; W.A. McCombs, Skill Valley, AZ; Billy G. McCombs, Gardendale; one daughter, Dorothy Smith, Singate; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers included Bill Sandlin, Elmer Maben, J.B. Morrison, Jimmy Stewart, Dink Johnson, Herman Bostick and Jessie Morrison.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
