SPUR Graveside services for Jo Dell McCombs, 74, of Spur will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Spur Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Burton officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.
She died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003.
She was born May 16, 1928, in Red Mud and was a lifelong resident of Spur. She married Elmer McCombs in 1945. She served as a president for the Ladies´ Auxiliary for the Spur Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is preceded in death by two daughters, Catherine McCombs Colmenero, who died in 1997 and Jo McCombs, who died in 1970.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Billie of Lubbock; three brothers, Johnny Frank Baze of Big Flat, Ark., T.F. Baze of Flower Mound and Daniel Baze of West Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Honorah Kennimer of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Dickens County EMS, P.O. Box 277, Spur, TX 79370.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elmer McCombs, 95, of Spur died Saturday, February 21, 2009. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Spur with Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday.
Elmer was born January 13, 1914 in Rule to Alonzo and Annie Stevens McCombs. He attended school in the Highway Community. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of the VFW. He married Jo Dell Baze on October 27, 1945 in Spur. She preceded him in death in 2003.
Elmer spent most of his life in Dickens County ranching and working as a Cowboy.
Elmer is survived by one daughter, Billie McCombs of Lubbock; one brother, Jiggs McCombs of Odessa; four grandchildren, Steve McCombs of Dickens, Hope Hollamon of Williams, Ariz., Karla Lonetti of Pennsylvania, and Jimmy Colmenero of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two daughters, Cathy Colmenero and Jo McCombs; his parents; two brothers, Raymond and W.A. McCombs; and two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Allene Cook.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Food Boxes, P.O. Box 415, Spur, TX 79370.
