Mrs. Robert McAteer Succumbs Friday, Aug. 16
Funeral services for Mrs. Allie B. McAteer, 42, wife of a prominent Dickens couny cattleman and member of a pioneer ranch family, was held Sunday afternoon August 18, 3 p.m. at the Methodist church with Rev. Raymond Van Zandt officiating.Interment was in Spur cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. McAteer, who was born July 5, 1904 in Dickens County died at her home here Friday after being ill for the past few years, her condition becoming more serious the last few weeks. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Goen who were one of the first ranch families to settle in Dickens Co. She was married to Robert McAteer in Crosbyton, TX July 17, 1924 and they have lived in Dickens until about a year and a half ago, when they bought a home in Spur and were living there at the time of her demise. She was converted about a year ago and was a member of the Methodist church.
She is survived by her huband, Robert McAteer, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Goen and one brother, Guy Goen.
Pallbearers were Cecil Meador, Hugh Swaringen, Jim Koonsman, Lassiter Hensley, Johnny Koonsman, Clayton Bridge, Frank Forbis, Lewis Rickels, George Humphrey andClark Forbis.
Flower bearers were Mrs. Cecil Meador, Mrs. Hugh Swaringen, Mrs. Clark Forbis, Mrs. Jim Koonsman, Mrs. Lassiter Hensley and Mrs. Johnny Koonsman.
