U.S.Flag   Graveside services for Hobert Charles Lewis, 68, of Girard were at 10 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2001 in at the Spur Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Pearce officiating. Burial was under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

He died Saturday, June 9, 2001 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born April 19, 1933, in Stamford, TX. He married Joyce Myrick on Feb. 25, 1986, in Lubbock. During his life he was a United Methodist minister, a banker and a college professor. He had degrees from the University of Texas, Lliff School of Theology, the University of Denver and Oklahoma State University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War He had lived most of his life in this area.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Myrick Lewis of Girard; three sons, Mark Edwin Lewis of Corpus Christi, Todd Everett Lewis of Fayetteville, Ark., and Michael David Lewis of Owasso, Okla.; one stepson, Mike Kahler of Midland; one daughter, Laura Brown of Grantsville, Utah; one stepdaughter, Cindy Zerfas of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Marie Pearce of Charlotte, N.C., and Rosalyn Lewis of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
