Funeral services for Dalton Lehew, 73, were at 11 a.m. Monday, December 5, 1994, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Genoa Goad, church pastor, and Rev. Norris Taylor, Idalou, former pastor here, officiating.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mr. Lehew died December 2, 1994 at his home north of Spur. Death was ruled due to natural causes by Bonnie Edwards, Justice of the Peace.

He was born March 23, 1921 in Dudley, Texas. He moved to Dickens County in 1941 and married Betty Miller in Fort Worth on October 18, 1942. He was a stock farmer and previously owned the John Deere dealership here and also the Foremost Milk distributorship.

Lehew was a veteran of World War II serving with the 48th Corps of Engineers and was a member of the Spur VFW Post 7212. He was also a member of the Spur Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include his wife, of Spur; one son, Dennis Lehew of Coppell; a daughter, Lynna Shirk, Gainesville, Florida; three sisters, Pat Gibbs of Abilene; Thelda Jefferies, Houston and Velda Stephens, Snyder; his mother, Opal Crow of Abilene and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Alton Rose, Alton Williams, Greg Arnold, Eric Swenson, Robert Pierce, Gary Howell and Larry Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers were Rueben Waddell, Kenneth Thomason, Lee Kidd, Beryle Murdoch, Ransom Gallaway, J. B. Morrison, Reggie Mayo, Everett Martin, Dr. Pat Williams, Charlie Morris, Larry Bass and Wilburn Ball.

Betty Jo Miler Lehew was born August 13, 1925 at her grandparent's home in the Dry Lake Community, Northwest of Spur to Delia and Ola Miller. She graduated from Spur High School in 1942. She married James Dalton Lehew on October 18, 1942 in Fort Worth. She was a homemaker, owner of Lulene's Dress Shop for 10 years, a member of the Eastern Star, Spur Art Guil, Red Hat Society and First Baptist Church. She passed away on January 26, 2007 in Lubbock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton in 1994; and an infant daughter, Melanie Jane in 1946.

She is survived by one son, Dennis Lehew of Cppell; a daughter Lynna Shirk of Gainesville, FL; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many extended family members and a host of dear friends.

Services were 10 AM, Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Spur with Rev. Richard Harbison officiating. Interment was in spur memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to South Dickens Senior Citizens Center, 210 Burlington, Spur, TX 73970.
