Funeral services for Lawis Lee, 79, a retired lumberyard manager were held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Rev. Bobby McMillan, Friona officiated, assisted by Rev. Archie Latoole, local church pastor.Mr. Lee died in Friona on February 11. He came to Spur from Baird in 191? He was associated with Braselton Lumber Company here until it closed out several years ago. He was a former mayor of Spur and member of the Spur City Council.
Mr. Lee had made his home in Friona since 1971. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, American Legion, VFW, Spur Volunteer Fire Department, Veteran of World War II and member of the Spur School Board.
He was also an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife of Friona; a daughter, Mrs. Winifred Hurst, Friona; two brothers, John Lee, Fort Worth; and Joe Lee, Abilene; a sister, Mrs. Elva Lee, Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Dr. Bob Hurst, Houston and Mrs. Ann Graves, Friona.

Funeral services for Gladys Abernathy Lee, 83, were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Allsup officiating.Mrs. Lee died July 12 in Prairie Acres Nursing Home. Her home address was Friona. The former Gladys Abernathy, she married Lawis Lee in Spur in September of 1921. She lived most of her life in Spur, moving to Friona in 1972. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mr. Lee died in February of 1977 and a daughter, Helen Ruth Augustine, died in February of 1972.
Survivors include a daughter, Winifred Hurst, Friona; one brother, "Tink" Abernathy. Menard and one sister, Vivian Gibson, Plainview; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Burial was in Spur Cemetery.
