Funeral services were conducted for Murray Archer Lea, Jr., Sunday, August 16 at 4 p.m. in the Spur Methodist Church. Rev. Cal Wright, assisted by Merriel Abbot, officiated.

Lea was born November 23, 1901 at Archer County, Texas. He died August 14, 1953. He was married to Pearl Cleveland on December 24, 1924, at Baird, Texas. They made their first home in Spur.

He was converted early in life and joined the Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Pallbearers were W. Street, John Sharp, Jess Wyatt, Dewey McGenley and Harry Martin. Honorary pallbearers were L.M. Whitehurst, Claude Swaringen, C.W. Nichols, Joe Boldwin, Floyd Barnett, Roy Ward, Merl Foreman, Lewis Richards, Wayne Oger, Fred Arrington, Ernest Mohler, T.M. Lewis, O.D. Thompson, Charles Taylor, Foy Slough, Herman Bostic, Robert Mohler, Gordon Latham, Coy Dell Overstreet, Iva Clower, Grady Swaringen, D.M. Atkinson, Jimmie DeGrow, Laddie R. Pearce.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. M.A. Lea; his wife, Pearl; one son, Kenneth Dale Lea; one brother, Robert E. Lea of Odessa and one sister, Mrs. Birdie Ellis of Sherman.

Interment was in the Spur Cemetery with Campbell's Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
