Obituary

Mrs. E. J. Lassetter, of the Foreman´s Chapel Community, died suddenly at her home there Tuesday afternoon, April 11. No one was at home at the time of her death and it is thought that after working for a while in her garden she had come into the house to rest and prepare the evening meal, and died of heart attack. She was found dead in her rocking chair. Mrs. Lassetter was one of the most prominent women of her community, active in church and civic affairs, and he sudden death was a severe shock to her many friends and the entire community.

Mrs. Lassetter was born in Van Zandt Co. August 18, 1879 where she lived until her marriage to E. J. Lassetter, December 25, 1901. To this union three children were born, Ila Jo, Annie Mae and Ottie Maude all of whom are popular teachers in schools of this county. In 1916 the family came west and settled in Kent County where they lived until 1921 when they moved to this community and have made their home here since.

Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church of this city, conducted jointly by Rev. Joe E. Boyd, the pastor, Rev. O. R. Harris of Rule, a former pastor, and Rev. C. W. Parmenter, Pastor of the church of her community. Mrs. Lassetter was converted in early life and has always been a devoted Christian and active worker in the church of her choice.

An unusually large gathering attended the rites and an abundance of the most beautiful flowers were placed on the bier.

Pallbearers were: J. C. Payne, T. A. Whigham, T. J. Dozier, W. F. Foreman, Bulloch Tillotson, and Jim Sample.

Flower girls were Misses Neal Fortson, Ella Mae Hogan, Fay Jamison, Rachel Langston, Alice Wright and Mrs. W. A. McAlpine.

Interment was made in Spur Cemetery, directed by Webber Williams.
