Obituary

Funeral services for Joe Bailey Kimmel, 58, Rt. 1, Hawkins, were held in the First Baptist Church in Quitman Saturday and in the First Baptist Church, Spur, Sunday.

Rev. Norris Taylor officiated at the services in Spur, assisted by Rev. Raymond Gilcrease.

Mr. Kimmel died Friday at his home after apparently suffering a heart attack.

He was a native of Omaha, Texas and had resided in Wood County for the past seven years. He worked at the Salesmanship Club Boys Camp and was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gracie Kimmel of Hawkins; one son, Elzie Kimmel, Carlsbad, NM; three daughters, Mrs. Jo Alice Moore and Mrs. Carrie Hawley of Ft. Worth and Mrs. Zina Atkinson of Gonzales, LA; four brothers, J.H. Kimmel, Snyder; J.T. Kimmel, Gustine; R.L. Kimmel of Lewisville and J.C. Kimmel of Garland; two sisters, Mrs. Villa Rape, Afton and Mrs. Thelma Scott, Lubbock; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

Gracie Kimmel Funeral services for Gracie Lucille Kimmel, 85, Quitman, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 12th, 1997 in Lowe Funeral Home Chapel, Quitman with Reverend Fred Morrow officiating.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery, Sunday, April 13, 1997 at 2 p.m. under the direction of Lowe funeral Home, Quitman.

Mrs. Kimmel died Friday, April 11, 1997 in Richardson after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Kimmel was born December 4, 1911 in Stonewall County, Texas and was a member of the Ebenzer Baptist Church in Wood County, Texas.

She lived in Richardson since 1994, formerly of Quitman and Spur. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bailey Kimmel in 1967.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Elzie and Paula Kimmel, Sawyer, Oklahoma; three daughters, Carrie Kimmel, Dallas,; Jo Ann Kimmel, Garland; Zina Atkinson, Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Elizabeth Daughtry, Spur; 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Grandsons were pallbearers.
