Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church, Spur, for Randy Wayne Kennedy, 13 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Kennedy, Spur. Mr. Kennedy is head coach and athletic director at Spur High School.
Rev. Norris Taylor, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Spur, officiated, assisted by Murry Brewer, Abernathy.
Young Kennedy died Tuesday from injuries he received when he fell from a tractor into a shredder. He received chest injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at Crosbyton Hospital.
The accident took place on the Spur Elementary campus shortly after noon on Tuesday. Apparently young Kennedy was riding on the tractor and shredder being driver by Rusty Crawford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Crawford, Spur school superintendent.
He moved to Spur with his parents in May of this year from Albernathy where his father was assistant coach. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his parents; one brother, David, 12; Maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B.R. McCasland, Tulia and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elzie Kennedy, Clarendon.
Burial was in Spur Cemetery.
