Obituary

Funeral services for Bessie Justice will be held this afternoon, Thursday, November 8, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Spur. Rev. Norris Taylor, church pastor will officiate.

Mrs. Justice died November 6 in the Crosbyton Hospital. Born in Gorman, Texas, she moved to Dickens County in 1922 from Eastland. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Spur and of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Hagins, Spur and Mrs. Bernice Hurst, Munday; one son, Wilson Justice, Ft. Worth; three brothers, George F. Bennett, Gorman; Jim Bennett, Eastland; and Roy Bennett, Big Spring, and two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Lee Eison, and Mrs. Purnia Fay Smith, both of Gorman. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Burial will be in Spur cemetery.

Memorial services for Bessie Justice an 81 year old Crosbyton resident, were at 2 p.m. last Thursday in the First Baptist Church of Spur with the Rev. Norris Taylor, pastor, officiating.

Interment was made in Spur Cemetery.

Mrs. Justice formerly was a longtime Dickens County resident.

She was claimed by death about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after a brief illness.

The former Bessie Bennett was a Gorman native. She and the late George W. Justice were married Feb. 14, 1914, at Carbon. Mr. Justice preceded his wife in death May 6, 1956.

Mrs. Justice was a member of First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Hagins of Spur and Burnice Hurst of Munday; one son, Wilson Justice of Fort Worth; three brothers, George F. Bennett of Gorman, Jim Bennett of Eastland and Roy Bennett of Big Spring; two sisters, Jessie Lee Elson and Purnia Fay Smith, both of Gorman; eight grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Last rites for George Washington Justice were held Monday, May 7 in the First Baptist Church, Spur, with Rev. Clyde Spann, of the Steel Hill Baptist Church, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. L.R. Pendley.

Pallbearers were Billy London, Martin Pope, Floyd Faubus, Andrew Blair, Marcus Copeland, and Marion Jordan. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Cumby, Mace Hunter, Harry Taylor, J.W. Carlisle, Jesse Powell, C.P. Scudder, Reese McNeill and W.F. Gilbert.

Mr. Justice was born in Eastland County on June 6, 1894 and passed at the age of 61. Date of demise was May 6, 1956. He married Bessie Bennett on February 14, 1914 in Eastland, where the couple made their first home. In 1924 the Justice family came to Dickens County, making their home in the Wilson Draw community.

He was converted to the Christian religion in 1922.

Survivors of Mr. Justice include his wife; one son, Wilson of Weatherford; two daughters, Juanita Neaves of Spur and Bernice Hurst of Spur; three brothers, W.A. and M.A. of Eastland and J.A. of Andrews; two sisters, Mrs. Vada Gillis of Houston and Mrs. I.M. Blackwood of California; eight grandchildren.

Interment was in the Spur Cemetery under the direction of Campbell's Funeral Chapel.
