Mrs. Mary Jones Died Saturday night, April 22nd.

Mrs. Mary Jones dropped dead of heart failure at her home, the remains being interred the following day in the Spur Cemetery. Mrs. Jones was a sister of Mrs. Jonas Carlisle, of Duck Creek, and for the past twelve or fourteen years had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle. She was seventy eight years of age, and her years of useful life revealed a high type of Western womanhood. One by one the old timers of the West are being called to that "Long Home." Each has earned a bright place in the Great Beyond.

In Loving Memory - Mrs. Mary Jones was born in Georgia July 26, 1844, died April 22, 1922, age 78 years, 8 months, 27 days. Was laid to rest in Spur Cemetery. Rev. McClelland of Spur officiating.

Aunt Mary, as she was lovingly called by her friends came to Texas in 1881 was married to Mr. Jones in 1885, and raised a family of step-children who loved and honored her till the last, five of whom are still living. They loved her because she was so good and kind to them as she was to every one she had any dealings with. After her husband´s death she lived with her sister, Grandma Carlisle. She was converted and joined the Methodist church in her early teens and lived a devoted Christian life till she was called away to her eternal rest. We are glad that we had the pleasure of knowing Aunt Mary, and being with her in her home, and that she visited us. Her life was an inspiration to us, and has helped us to bear our many trials and disappointments better, for it is impossible to associate with one like her without being benefitted. The best way describe her is to say that she was an near perfect as anybody ever gets to be i this world. In all the years of our acquaintance we never heard Aunt Mary speak unkindly of anybody in their absence, but she always spoke kindly of everyone and lived her religion every day. Indeed we loved her truly and it grieves us to know that Aunt Mary is no more. Still seventy eight years is a long time to buffet the storms of life, and we must not be selfish and wish that she were here, but rather let us rejoice that she is with God, where there is no more suffering and death, for her sorrows are over. She suffered more than tongue can tell the last six weeks of her life, but has bore it with Christian grace and now she is reaping her eternal reward. Again we say that we are glad we knew her and we are going to try harder in the future to live nearer God than ever before for after all, Heaven is our goal, so why allow the things of this world to keep us from enjoying religion as we should? Let us all like Aunt Mary, live for God every day, knowing that "all things work together for good to them who love the Lord." Let us all who can visit Grandma and Grandpa Carlisle and cheer their hearts for they will be lonesome now since Aunt Mary is gone.
