Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Spur Church of Christ for Dalton Johnston, 75, Robert Bankhead officiated assisted by C.V. Allen.He died about 10 a.m. Monday in Spur Memorial Hospital. He had lived in Dickens County since 1922. Johnston had served as a grocery store operator for many years, and later was cashier at Bell´s Cafe. He retired on Christmas Eve, 1958.
Johnston had served as an elder of the Spur Church of Christ for the past 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Johnston; two daughters, Mrs. Edd Williams and Mrs. Fred Kinney both of Spur; five brothers, Raymond, Oklahoma City; Earl, Roscoe; Bert, Matador; Olin and Loren, both of Portales, NM; one sister, Mrs.Ida Ora Webb, Portales and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dupree Allen, A.J. Harvey, Calvin Davis, Wilson Hagins, Rex Carlisle, T.B. Watson, Jay Austin and Robert Williams.
Honorary pallbearers were Church elders E.S. Lee and O.L. Kelley and deacons, Ben Loe, R.L. Benson, Guy Goen, Edd Williams and C.F. Phillips.
Interment was in Spur Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Johnston, 85, were held Thursday, April 27, in the Spur Church of Christ. Thomas Seacy minister of Pioneer Park Church of Christ, Lubbock, officiated.Mrs. Johnston died in Ray´s Hospitality Home in Lubbock on April 25. She had been a resident of Spur since 1922. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edd Williams, Spur and Mrs. Fred Kinney, Seagraves; four grandchildren and four great-grands.
Pallbearers included T.B. Watson, Ben Loe, Guy Goen, Harry Martin, John Dunaway, Louis Arnold, Arlie Ramage and Floyd Barnett.
Burial was in the Spur Cemetery.
