Last Rites Held For Oscar T. Johnson Wed. Morning
Funeral services were held Wed., August 14, 9 a.m. at the Methodist church for Oscar Johnson, 70 who died at his home in Spur, Monday, Aug. 12, being in failing health for some time. Rev. Raymond Van Zandt, pastor, officiated.Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 12, 1875 in Tolbert County, Georgia. He moved to Spur in 1940, where he had been in the barbering business. He was married to Mrs. Ruby Gilbert Aug. 17, 1941 at Colorado City and they have made their home here since.
Mr. Johnson was converted early in life and was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Pallbearers were: C.O. Fox, Lawis Lee, D.J. Dyess, George Lisenby, Max McClure and Frank Watson.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Roby Johnson of Spur, and children: C.R. Johnson, Kilgore, Oscar G. Johnson, Quanah, Jack Johnson, Dublin; Mrs. John M. Kerr, Shreveport, LA; and Mrs. Nell Nunn of Dallas. Brothers and sisters surviving are: Edmond Johnson and George Johnson of Quanah, Mrs. Betty Lou Miles, El Reno, OK; and Mrs. Eva McKinzie of Okla. City, OK.
Interment was in the Spur cemetery with Campbell Funeral Chapel in charge.
