Jefferson Johnson Killed In Wreck

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 28, at 3 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church for Jefferson Lee Johnson, who was killed Friday, March 26, in a car wreck fifteen miles west of Mineral Wells on Highway 180.

Rev. J.E. Lee, pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church officiated.

Johnson was born on September 28, 1915 at Blanchard, OK. He came to Dickens County in 1932 and was married to Bonnie Bilberry Haber at Lovington, NM on February 18, 1952.

Pallbearers were Dempsey Sims, Jr., W.A. Nichols, C.W. Proctor, L.L. Hunt, Paul Bateman and Alex Fry.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, one step-daughter, Sandra Ann Baber, mother, Mrs. Thelma Johnson of Spur; father, W.F. Johnson of Ardmore, OK; one brother, Bruce of Fort Worth; his grandparents, Mrs. Lillie Gibson of Spur and L.L. Gibson of Spur. Interment in Spur cemetery. Chandler Funeral Home in charge.
