Funeral services for Byron Bentley Jenkins, 77, were held February 16 at 2:30 p.m. in the First Christian Church with church pastor, Dr. Ned Hicks, officiating.

Jenkins died at St. Mary´s of the Plains Hospital in Lubbock on February 14 following a sudden illness.

Born January 8, 1909 in Knox City, he married the former Ruth Thackett in O´Donnell in November of 1960. A barber and real estate investor, he had lived in Dickens County most of his life. He was a former member of the Comanche Lions Club and the Comanche Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jenkins, Spur; four sons, Seger Jenkins, Amarillo; Tony Jenkins, Ruidosa, NM; Bryon B.Jenkins, Jr., Austin; and Tommy Elvis Jenkins, Lubbock; one daughter, Beverly Steele, Tulsa, OK; a brother, Leland Jenkins, San Diego, CA; two sisters, Oleta Owens, Cove, AR and Adrian Andes.
