Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Stella Hord, 79, were held Friday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Carter, Abilene officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Melvin Ratheal, Lubbock.Mrs. Hord died last Thursday. She suffered from a heart ailment.
Born in Leon County in 1881, Mrs. Hord first came to Dickens County in 1949 where she resided three miles northeast of Spur.
She married W.M. Hord in Eastland, Texas in 1898. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, six sons, A.L. Hord, Seymour; A.D. Hord, Evant; S.B. Hord, Abilene; C.T. Hord, Crowell; H.D. Hord, Santa Rosa, NM and Marion E. Hord, Pampa.
Two brothers and two sisters also survive. They include Clarence Traweek, Bangs; Fred Traweek, Crowell; Mrs. Johnnie Lilly, Austin and Mrs. Ethel Ellis, Clarendon.
Fourteen grandchildren also survive. Grandsons were pallbearers.
Interment was in Spur Cemetery with Campbell´s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services were held Sunday in the First Baptist Church for Wiley Marion Hord, 90. Rev. Norris Taylor, church pastor, officiated.Mr.Hord died Dec. 2 in Baylor County Hospital, Seymour.
He was a deacon in the Baptist Church. He resided in Spur from 1949 to 1956 when he retired from farming.
His wife preceded him in death in 1960.
He is survived by six sons; A.L. Seymour; A.D., Dublin; S.B., Abilene; C.T., Crowell; H.D., Santa Rosa, NM and Marion, Pampa; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Mike, Bill, Larry, Gaylon, Bobby and Alva Joe Hord.
Burial was in the Spur Cemetery.
