Obituary

Services for John N. Hopkins, 71, a former mayor of Post, were held Monday at 1 p.m. in Campbell´s Funeral Home Chapel. B.C. Stapleton, Lubbock, officiated.

Mr. Hopkins died February 21 in the Veterans Hospital in Big Spring. He was associated with theatres both in Spur and Post before he retired. A member of the Church of Christ, he had resided in Lubbock since 1972. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Marshall Hopkins, Lubbock; two stepsons, Gary Marshall of Dallas and A.W. Marshall, Acuff; three step grandsons.

Pallbearers included W.S. Carlisle, A.B. Carlisle, Bob Bellow, Chris Marshall, Brooks Marshall and A.W. Marshall, Jr.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery.

Services for Evelyn Marshall Hopkins, 79 of Slaton were at 4 p.m. December 16, 1995 in the First Baptist Church, Spur, with former Spur pastor Rev. Norris Taylor, Idalou, officiating.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hopkins died December 14 in the Slaton Care Center and death was ruled due to natural causes.

She was born in Spur and lived in Dickens County most of her life. She married John N. Hopkins in Clovis, NM on July 10, 1972. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1981. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. One son, Gary Marshall, also preceded her in death on January 7, 1991.

Survivors include one son, A.W. (Dub) Marshall, Acuff; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Arlen Stennett, Jere Mimms, Cleo Lindsey, Chris Marshall, Brooks Marshall and A. W. Marshall, Jr.
