Graveside rites for a former resident of Spur, Mrs. Nadine Devoy Hopkins, were held here August 21 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Norris Taylor officiating.Mrs. Hopkins died August 19 in Garland following a lengthy illness. She had resided here from 1914 to 1961 when she and her family moved to Hugo, Oklahoma. Her husband, J.D.Hopkins was owner of a Texaco service station here for a number of years. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Patsy Hart, Garland; Mrs. Nell Roberson, New Orleans, LA; one brother, Marion Jordan, Spur; two sisters, Mrs. Creola McClanahan; Lorenzo and Mrs. Evelyn Brewen, Spur; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Joe McDaniel, M. M. Copeland, R.B. Walsworth, Jack Simmons, Bill Dement, and Buck Carlisle.
Interment was in Spur Cemetery.

SPUR (Special) Services for J.D. Hopkins, 69, a retired service station operator, are set for 2 p.m. today in the Spur Church of Christ with Jim Chisum, minister, officiating.Burial will be in Spur Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
A native of Sulphur Springs, Hopkins lived in Dickens County from 1923 until 1950 when he moved to Hugo, Okla. He died about 4:30 a.m. Sunday in Baylor Hospital in Dallas.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Patsy Hart of Garland and Mrs. Nell Roberson of Shreveport, La.; a brother (rest of article not saved)
